Teaching History/Experience
My name is Angelica Irving. I have been teaching since 2014. I started my teaching career at Baker Elementary where I taught second grade and kindergarten for 8 years. After Baker, I came to Normal Heights Elementary and have been teaching here ever since. I have been very lucky to have taught at two wonderful schools, both with amazing staff.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that children learn best in an environment where they feel comfortable taking chances. Children need to feel that they are an important part of their learning community and that what they contribute is important. They need to be held to a high standard of learning and given support by both the teacher and parents.
Recognition/Awards/Special Certifications
I have a BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Developmental) degree. I was awarded Teacher of the Year by my wonderful Normal Heights family.
Interests/Hobbies
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, reading a good book and walking my dog Luna. I love to visit my family in Vancouver, Washington. Lots of great places to hike! I also like spending time with my three nieces, good friends and going to concerts with my husband.
